According to the Iranian Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration, the area under mineral exploration in Iran during the first four months of this year (March 20 – July 21) has expanded by 30,000 square meters. Expanding the exploration horizon is propelled with large investments of the Organization for Development and Renovation of Mines and Mining Industries of Iran (IMIDRO) in the past few years.

According to the country statistics organization, 7214 mines were active in 2018. According to a new report released by IMIDROsteel topped the list of exports in terms of value with $1.59 billion and was followed by copper with $457.5 million and cement with $163.4 million.

In terms of tonnage, cement had the largest share with 7.63 million tons, followed by steel with 4.3 million tons.
