Iran Cement Background

Iranians have an ancient background in the knowledge and provision of building materials. Furthermore, the monuments of our predecessors in different parts of the country from the past ages determine the dimensions of this fact. Lime and Sarooj are among the many materials used in ancient Iran. Buildings like lighthouses of the Persian Gulf or dams and port facilities adjacent to the water are made of lime and clay materials.
In fact, the time of the beginning of cement consumption in Iran in the form of today is not clear. In 1928, studies and research were necessary to establish the first cement factory. On December 29, 1933, the first Iranian cement kiln with a capacity of 100 tons per day came into operation seven kilometers south of Tehran.

Iran’s cement, with a history of 85 years of production, is considered one of the country’s infrastructure industries. At the same time, it has established a deep linkage with a wide range of industries and different service centers. Currently, Iran has a real capacity of more than 87 million tons of cement per year. Iran cement price is competitive in the region. So, it has the highest capacity for cement production in the Middle East and is ranked among the top five cement producers in terms of the global ranking. As a result, Iran has exported more than 17 million tons only in 2013.

The recent decade has led to significant growth in the cement industry; and even the arrival of foreign investors and a wide range of private sector investments.
