performance grade bitumen is a type of bitumen that is graded according to its performance at different alternating temperatures. There is a tendency to divide PG grade into two divisions of high-temperature and low-temperature pavement services.
Performance Grade Bitumen is the latest standard of bitumen. This method studies the mechanical specifications of bitumen because, in this method, the temperature range is defined for bitumen, the consumer can easily choose the desired product.
Performance Grade is determined for polymer-modified bitumen and pure bitumen based on environmental conditions and temperature. The wider the PG range the higher resistance and more favorable specifications.
In the Superpave grading system, binders are classified according to their performance in extreme hot and cold temperatures and called performance grade (PG) bitumen. You can see the specification for the performance grade bitumen below:
